MAIN DESCRIPTION
The Shape of an Argument was named for the push and pull happening throughout the painting. Warm tones and cool tones press against each other in the background, creating a visual back-and-forth that feels unresolved.
In the foreground, shapes appear without becoming fully discernible figures. One form near the top seems to be pushing back or keeping its distance from the shape below it. That relationship gives the painting its tension: not a literal argument, but the visual structure of disagreement, resistance, and separation.
The title fits because the painting does not need a clear subject to show conflict. The Shape of an Argument is built from pressure, distance, opposing tones, and forms that seem to hold their ground against one another.
