The Shape of an Argument***
The Shape of an Argument stages conflict as a vertical gradient—fierce red burning into electric magenta, collapsing into indigo and deep cyan. A twisting green-violet form carves through the center like a gesture mid-sentence, looping back on itself, splintering, refusing to resolve.
Splashes, drips, and suspended droplets orbit that central motion, reading as fragments of impact—evidence of what’s been said and what hangs in the air. The color field feels pressurized yet controlled: heated on the left, cooled and darkened on the right, with the figure of the argument stretched across the divide.
At 40 x 30 inches, the painting holds a wall with decisive force. It operates less like décor and more like a live presence in the room—an abstract record of tension that stays active the longer you look. As a one-of-one work from a focused studio practice, it carries the authority of a singular, unrepeatable exchange.
