Refusing Symmetry is precision-built yet intentionally unsettled, its five stepped layers rising in exact succession while the image beneath moves in quiet opposition. Marbled greens and violets flow across the base like a controlled undercurrent, soft motion pressing against the rigid geometry above. The composition holds tension without resolving it, asking the viewer to register the unease that arrives when structure is correct but balance still feels off.
Three butterflies rest on the architectural planes—two rendered in grayscale, one in a vivid, insistent orange. The unplanned third presence tilts the conversation, interrupting the calm with a single decisive deviation that cannot be ignored. Though the framework remains technically symmetrical, the eye is pulled off-center, drawn to that deliberate intrusion where design and disruption share the same ledge.
