Override stages a collision between enforced order and emotional interruption. Black-and-white panels anchor the composition in architectural restraint, while angled color blocks of purple, green, yellow, and blue cut across them on a diagonal, sliding out of their assigned lanes. The composition holds tension without resolving it, sitting at the point where structure tries to maintain control even as interference grows louder.
Color does not politely fill the shapes; it climbs edges, spills over borders, and drifts across seams that were meant to stay clean. The dimensional multi-panel build amplifies that refusal—each misaligned plane catching light differently so forms advance, recede, and shift as the viewer moves. From one angle the work feels almost gridded; from another, the grid is clearly being overridden.
Within the OUT OF ALIGNMENT studio practice, Override reads as a system mid-collapse, but not yet surrendered. The black-and-white logic remains visible, even as the vibrant interventions negotiate new territory across its surface. It is disciplined and disrupted at once—an object that demands to be read as both control and its unraveling.

About the OUT OF ALIGNMENT Series: OUT OF ALIGNMENT is a collection rooted in intentional misalignment—physical, emotional, and societal—that stands with quiet authority rather than polished perfection. Angles tilt, systems shift, and light interrupts structure, turning fracture and interference into acts of recalibration rather than collapse. Each painting captures a moment where structure refuses perfect alignment yet remains entirely intentional; no works in this series are duplicated.
Availability Note: All works are one-of-one originals. Once acquired, each painting is permanently removed from studio inventory and will not be recreated.
